Solar Patio or Garden Lights are an excellent idea for the holidays as well as other times.  The lights are very reliable and maintenance free.  Since the batteries are charged continuously during sunlight times, nothing needs to be replaced and there is no cost after the initial purchase.  They come in so many colors, shapes and sizes.  From a gentle walkway path to a garden light to a spotlight.  Highly recommended.

If you are looking to travel on a budget, consider Amtrak.  Compared with plane tickets, train tickets are a fraction of the cost.  It is so much more fun to travel by rail.  Amtrak has a guest rewards program where you can earn free train travel.  Now that’s frugal!

Consider giving restaurant gift cards to your spouse.  Cracker Barrel would be a good choice.  Chances are, there is one in your neck of the woods.  If not, there will be one on your roadtrip to just about anywhere.  High quality comfort food at great prices.  The general store attached to it is very nice as well.  There are normally regional items, so it is never boring.  So, you take care of a gift and receive it back when you use it.  Now that’s frugal!

If you are thinking casual Italian, think Fazoli’s.  It is very reasonably priced and much tastier than you might realize.  Their baked dishes are really good and you can build your own pasta bowl.  You can then choose a side salad or pizza for your side.  People rave about their breadsticks, which are unlimited.  Now that’s frugal!

Great food value:  Pizza Hut online.  You get a large 2 item pizza for only $7.99!  The only stipulation is that you have to order online.  Now that’s frugal!
