The speed on this machine will just amaze you.  You actually may not be able to keep up!  It is fun to use and built for serious volume.  It combines the ease of a home sewing machine with metal construction for durability with “turbo power” so you can “turn it up to 11″ to borrow a line from This is Spinal Tap.

FRUGAL BONUS:

Make sure you look into paying any judgments, taxes, etc. by money order instead of a check or credit card.

If you are in the mood to see a movie, go to Fandango.com.  You can search for theaters and movies in your area and take care of your tickets online.  Especially if it is a new release, you know you won’t face a sold out sign.  Just go to the kiosk to pick up your tickets.  Make sure to take the credit card you used and get there early enough for good seats.  No waiting in the regular ticket line!

Tankless or traditional hot water heater?  Good or bad, hot water heaters do not last forever.  Normally, they quit working at a very inconvenient time.  Truth be told, you do know when that day is getting close.  If you can get ahead of the dreaded day, you will be most happy.  Tankless heaters have been popular in Europe for years.

The advantages to tankless are they are smaller, provide basically an endless supply of hot water, and saves energy since needless water does not need to be heated over and over.  The one below is designed to replace a traditional 40 gallon tank:

Of course, the traditional one is always available, for normally a little less initial outlay:

Before deciding, make sure you check with your local plumbers.  They may or may not be familiar with the tankless design installation.  Also, they may sometimes have a hot water heater in stock for a “good deal.”  The local guys are easier to negotiate with as well.  Cash may well be king.

If your car is running a little rough, it could be a dirty throttle body.  Chrysler products are especially known for this.  An inexpensive container of carb/choke cleaner will do the trick, most of the time.

With the rainy/snowy season coming, make sure you treat all your windshields with RainX.  It will help you remember Johnny Nash (I Can See Clearly Now).

When that headlight does burn out, don’t freak out.  Your car will either have a small bulb that needs to be replaced or the entire assembly.  Check online.  Watch some youtube videos.  It is normally no that difficult to do.  Make sure to adjust the height by a fence or wall.  Some auto parts places like O’Reiily’s or AutoZone may even be talked into replacing them for no charge.

If you have a few cracks or rough spots in your driveway or walkway, try Quikrete Concrete Crack Seal, available at your local hardware or farm store.  You just squeeze it out of the bottle, into the area.  It is not incredibly thick, so it will flow down into the holes for the driveway.  Make sure to fill the larger areas with pebbles and sand first.  It is dry to the touch in 30 minutes and sets in 24 hours, but a small amount of auto traffic after a few hours seems to be fine.

Keep your stash of home repair items stocked up – WD40 (now comes with a smart straw that will never get lost, still does spray regularly with the straw in the down position), duct tape, liquid nails, silicon caulk.  Having to go out in bad weather is never fun.

If you business involves any type of crafts, make sure to research any local amusement parks or other areas where such items congregate.  You will be able to check out the competitions as well as getting new ideas to develop new products.  You should also consider marketing through these channels as well.  Normally,  a season pass is cheaper than two regular visits.  These passes also give you perks (discounts at gift shops, concessions, bring a friend passes, etc.)  Some of these places have a new theme or festival every couple of months, so make sure to visit often.

Local high school yearbooks are great to preserve teenager memories.  They are also great avenues for advertising for small businesses.

As Christmas approaches, make sure to stock up on some clothing and winter needs: gloves, hats, boots, coats, underwear, undershirts, socks.  They make great gifts, especially if they are really needed!  Place like TJ Maxx, Marshall’s, Ross’, K Mart, thrift stores – are all nice places to save money.

Seek out your local import store.  Depending on the size of your city, it may be a combo store or separate ones for Oriental, Mediterranean and Spanish.  You will be able to find that special sausage and other meats, cheese, olives, tea, jam.  Normally, the prices are very competitive with online sources and much easier to transport with perishables.

The KFC 10 piece bucket comes with 10 pieces of chicken (you can mix it any way you want), 2 large sides and 4 biscuits, for only $17.99.  Great deal!

Pizza Hut – any pizza any size for $10 – can’t be beat!  See if there is a local discount card for free breadsticks.  If you do not feel like picking it up, consider the $2 delivery charge.

There are many people who have holiday birthdays.  Make sure you do not ignore their birthdays!  Did you know that Dairy Queen has not only the traditional ice cream cakes, but Blizzard ice cream cakes!  Yummy!  For the diabetics in the crowd, consider picking up a few no sugar added Dilly Bars.  Nice gesture.

GREAT THANKSGIVING MENU: (This will also work for Christmas)  Turkey (brining it will make it juicier – make sure you defrost your turkey ahead of time – 3-4 days in frig – read the directions on your turkey package); stuffed eggs (need eggs, mustard, mayo); mashed potatoes with gravy (need potatoes, cream cheese, gravy in a jar); sweet potato casserole (need canned jams, cream cheese, small marshmallows, brown sugar); green bean casserole (need 2 french style green beans, french fried onions, 2 cream of mushroom/chicken soups); bread (dinner rolls); pumpkin pie (canned pumpkin, pie crust, whipped cream); stuffing ( boxed is fine); ham (looked for sliced in the deli – much cheaper and easier to work with, Karo syrup to pour on the ham – awesome results); cake; apple/cherry/blueberry pie (need pie crusts, canned pie filling); {Make sure to pick up dessert sampler glasses set from Bed Bath & Beyond and TJ Maxx} soft drinks, club crackers, cream cheese, cottage cheese and mandarin orange salad, milk. butter, sour cream,  flour, snack items, etc.  If you have an Aldi’s in your area, hit it up for your Thanksgiving list (don’t wait until the last minute) or a discount grocery.  Some stores run free or incredibly cheap turkeys with an additional purchase.  With a lot of planning and comparison shopping, the meal does not have to be expensive.  You can always have your guests bring side items.
